Anonymous asked: Why is everything so reactionary between DC and Marvel? They announce a bunch of films, so y'all do. They announce their new stuff, so y'all do. Why can;t you guys try doing something original, or just ignore what they're all doing.
The notion that Marvel Studios just announced the film slate for the next few years because Warners announced their prospective slate of DC films is just a little bit preposterous.
Do you really think that Marvel Studios just came up with all of those films days before the announcement? And do you think that they are at all concerned that another outfit is making movies?
Wow that was a ridiculous ask, the only thing that happened is that Marvel announced after DC. If Warners make films as good as their CW shows then they have nothing to worry about. As fans of this genre both studios taking steps towards diversity is a win win situation.
I’m glad that DC are doing something other than Batman and Superman, not that I don’t like them but come on they were getting repetitive with it. It’ll be great to see Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg getting their own films.
Marvel have lead the genre with great films for a while now, finally we are getting our first female and POC leads. It wasn’t so long ago the whole of Tumblr were lording DC and slating marvel before you even knew what phase 3 contained.
I think as fans if we prefer one over the other that’s fine, but we need to stop pitting the studios against each other. I’ve done it myself in the past but is it really something that’s worth being petty over?
